A villager had started a school in Town Square, and that was a problem. Knowledge was power, and it had to be regulated. When people knew too many things, they would inevitably assume that the knew more than their ruler. This school would have to be stopped before it could undermine the Monarch's reign.

Shut It Down is one of two approaches to the quest Dangerous Minds and costs 3 QP to start. This quest can be completed with the Monarch and Spy of any level.

Walkthrough

Monarch (M) - Talk to Servant about his work

M - Write secret instructions to Spy on the class --> Send secret letter to Spy

Spy (S) - Check for a secret drop at the messenger post

S- Choice - Open box, whatever it takes -or- Speak to Monarch (doesn't affect quest)

S - Listen to Instructor's lesson at the Town Square --> Tell Monarch about the class

M - Speak with Instructor about the class

M - Choice - Smash school with Kingly might -or- Handle delicately... discreetly (each choice has a unique path)

Smash

M - Command Instructor to stop the class --> Tell Spy to help get rid of Instructor

S - Instruct Shady to burn down Instructor's house --> Wait for Shady to burn down the house --> Get update on house fire

S - Inquire about Instructor's house --> Report to Monarch about the burned house

S - Ask a student where Instructor lives --> Travel to village at night to steal Instructor's clothing

M- Write a new law taxing all educational classes --> Tell Instructor about new law

S - Send letter to Monarch informing him about the stolen clothes

M - See if Instructor is still teaching

M - Capture a wolf from the Forest --> Instruct Spy to set an ambush with the wolf

S- Wait by the Front Gate

M - Trick Instructor into going to the Village (Instructor gets attacked by the wolf...)

To this day, if a child shows too much interest in books and learning, the tale of Instructor Aldous is used to scare them straight. It is said that if you open a book during a full moon, you can hear his screams...

Discreet

M - Tell Instructor to stop the class --> Have Spy investigate the Instructor

S - Eavesdrop on Instructor --> Pickpocket the Instructor --> Report your findings to Monarch

M - Inform Town Crier that Instructor is teaching Peteran values

S - Tamper with the lesson book (at scribe table) --> See if Beggar <Nimue> has some lice

S - Choice - Buy lice from beggar (Pay beggar $20) -or- Steal lice from beggar (Threaten beggar for lice)

S - Infest the lesson book with lice (at crafting table) --> Place lice-infested lesson book in Instructor's pocket

M -Listen to Instructor to see how class is going

M - Hire Beggar <Nimue> to slander the Instructor --> Follow Beggar to the Town Square

M - Tell Instructor that his class is dismissed (Instructor leaves to the Forest to be eaten by wolves...)
