The Grim Reaper has been in The Sims series since The Sims: Livin' Large, the first expansion pack of the first The Sims game. He comes to take the souls of Sims after they have died.
The appearance of the Grim Reaper in The Sims Medieval is significantly different from that of previous Sims games, appropriately appearing closer to medieval personifications of death.
Instead of a simple hooded black robe, he wears a dark red robe with a belt that holds several skulls and an hourglass. Out of the back of the robe pokes a pair of black feathered wings. Though the Grim Reaper's face is completely obscured by shadows, long, white hair can be seen coming out of the dark interior of the hood. Finally, the Reaper's scythe has a more jagged blade and is topped with another skull, closely resembling the doomstaff which is the best staff in the game.
There is no way to summon Grim Reaper manually other than making a Sim die of starvation or sickness, lose a Duel to the Death, or get consumed by the Pit Beast. The Grim Reaper rises from the ground, pulling the dead Sims soul to the air and disappears.
- When taking a sim, it sounds as though the Grim Reaper says, "You perish! Salvation! For me it's come!"
- Some people refer to him as "grim in his younger days"
- The Grim Reaper along with the Marriage Officiator are two of the only few pre-made sims in the sims medieval, and both of them can not be socialized with.
